Kilo again worked with M&S to secure a Food Hall in a new settlement on the edge of the town centre. The particular challenge, in planning terms, was the site’s proximity to a listed Martello tower from the Napoleonic War. Planning was secured in a very short timetable so as to deliver a store in time for Christmas trading. Further complications arose due to the retailer’s requirement to change the store format post planning. However, Kilo and their design team were able to make the requisite changes and still meet programme due to their positive relationship with the local planning authority and community. Once again, Kilo forged strong links with the local Town Council to deliver a negotiated planning consent.
The scheme was sold, post completion, to a Local Authority Pension Fund.
